Tipify Mobile Application

Tipify ("we," "us," "our") operates the Tipify mobile application (the "App"), available exclusively in the United States and Canada. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your information responsibly.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect information when you use the App. By using the App, you consent to the practices described in this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We design the App to collect minimal information and no personally identifiable information (such as name, email address, phone number, precise location, or other direct identifiers).

1.1 Information You Actively Provide
  • Tip Calculations: Bill amount, tip percentage, number of people splitting the bill, and optional names for saved calculations.

  • App Settings & Preferences: Custom quick tip percentages, default split count, theme preference, and payment method usernames (e.g., Venmo, Cash App, Zelle usernames — not credentials).

Storage:

  • Tip calculations → Stored in your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit private database (end-to-end encrypted in transit and at rest).

  • App settings → Stored locally on your device using iOS UserDefaults.

Access: Only you (via your iCloud account and device) can access this data.

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

We collect limited, anonymous usage analytics solely to improve the App:

  • Device type/model (e.g., iPhone15,2)

  • iOS version

  • App version and build number

  • Aggregate usage metrics (e.g., number of calculations saved, average tip percentage, weekly calculation frequency, app launch frequency)

  • Selected theme

  • Premium subscription status (Free, Yearly, Lifetime)

Identification: Data is associated only with an anonymous CloudKit identifier generated by Apple that:

  • Is unique to this App

  • Is not linked to your Apple ID or any personal identity

  • Cannot be used to identify you

Purchase-related data (subscription status, expiration date for recurring plans) is obtained via Apple's StoreKit framework. We never receive or store payment card details, billing address, or other financial information.

2. How We Use Information

We use the collected information only for:

  • Providing core App functionality (storing/synchronizing calculations, applying settings, enabling premium features)

  • Aggregate analytics to understand usage patterns, identify popular features, fix bugs, and plan improvements

  • Complying with legal obligations, enforcing our Terms of Service, and protecting our rights

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, marketing, or any purpose unrelated to App operation and improvement.

3. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, lease, or share your personal information with any third parties for monetary or other consideration.

Limited exceptions:

  • Apple Inc.: Your tip calculations are stored in Apple's iCloud/CloudKit infrastructure. In-app purchases are processed via Apple's StoreKit. These activities are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required to comply with applicable law, valid legal process, regulatory requests, or to protect our rights, property, safety, or the rights/safety of others.

We do not use third-party analytics services (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Facebook SDK), advertising networks, or data brokers.

4. Data Storage, Security & Location
  • Private user data (tip calculations) is stored in your personal iCloud account → encrypted in transit and at rest → stored in Apple data centers in North America (United States and Canada).

  • Local settings are stored only on your device and removed upon app uninstallation.

  • Anonymous analytics are stored in Apple's CloudKit public database → retained for up to 2 years → aggregated and non-identifiable.

Security measures include HTTPS/TLS encryption for all network communication, Apple's CloudKit security controls, and regular security reviews. We rely on Apple's industry-standard protections for iCloud data.

5. Your Rights & Choices

You have significant control over your data:

  • Access → View all saved calculations in the App's History tab.

  • Delete → Delete individual/all calculations in the App; uninstall the App to remove local settings; sign out of iCloud to remove synced data and stop future analytics.

  • Opt out of analytics → Sign out of iCloud on your device (disables CloudKit sync and anonymous analytics collection).

  • Portability → Export calculations via the App's share feature.

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA) You have the right to know what information we collect, request deletion, opt out of any "sale/sharing" of personal information (we do not sell/share), and non-discrimination for exercising rights. Canadian Residents (PIPEDA) You have the right to access, correct, and withdraw consent for your personal information. To submit requests: Email support@shalomseth.com with subject "Canadian Privacy Request". You may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will delete it. Contact us at support@shalomseth.com if you believe a child has provided us with information.

7. Premium Subscriptions

Premium features are managed entirely by Apple via your Apple ID. We only receive anonymized status information (active/inactive, type, expiration). We do not collect or store payment details.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date will indicate changes. For significant modifications, we will provide notice via in-app notification and/or App Store release notes. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
